Every serious photographer knows how important a good tripod is. And a good tripod needs to be big enough and heavy to ensure good photos. But that makes it difficult to have it all the time with you. The best tripod is “, that I have all the time with me” (according to Chase Jarvis). Here is one of my best purchase I every made for photo gear.
The tripod is pretty small and flexible. You can carry it around in your jeans (and I carry it around very often ;-). You can extend it up to 1 meter and although not intentionally engineered for that, you can use it also as a small monopod when you are sitting (e.g. for sport events). Sometimes it is prohibited to bring a tripod (e.g. a stadium or a tower). This gear usually doesn’t count as a tripod for security. The tripod is pretty cheap (30$, Maybe you need to add a stronger ball-head). It is not solid as a rock. But in case when you need a slide ground and nothing is there, this is awesome to have with you.
Nothing special but pretty handy. Here are some results, that were without this gear not possible. I think the investment was worth it.
Nicht schlecht der Specht. Ich glaube ich reise als Photo-Azubi zu dir nach Boston 😉
vielen Dank fuer die Blumen. Sag wenn Du ankommst, wir haben genug Platz.
Really cool stuff. Do you mind posting more information about the model number and where one could buys such things?
Hi Alin,
that is the model that I have.

I’m happy with it. To be honest, I needed to replace the ball head, because it couldn’t hold my camera (cost me additional 20$). But this setup helped me already a lot and is more compact than any gorilla joypad.
Were you able to take your DSLR into the TD Garden? I noticed that there policy is not to allow cameras with detachable lenses. Any tips on getting your DSLR past security?
Sorry, wally, for the late reply. I didn’t received a e-mail for your request.
The tripod is one part of the trick. The other is, that I didn’t really know about the rule and the third part is that my wife had the camera in her bag.
We did it two times and had never a problem with that. I have also seen other people with DSLR in the Garden. Looks they don’t care so much about there own rules.
Hope that gives you a little bit of info
Awesome shots you have there!
I have one question, is this tripod strong enough to hold a Nikon D90 or a heavier camera?
Good question. The answer is yes and no.
The tripod is good, but the original ball head is the weak bad part (like for all cheap mini tripods). If you look closer, you see they always advertise smartphones or compact cameras on small tripods.
I once bought once a small ball head from cullmann that solved this problem for me. It can hold a dlsr with midsize lense, because it has a slightly bigger ball. works for me and fits nicely on the tripod.
Hope that helps
